Description
“As a winner of the Duo Fujin 2012 Weekend Composition Competition, this work was motivated by Hokusai’s woodblock print entitled The Great Wave off Kanagawa. The work considers small musical cells that pattern and shift as analogous to the nature of water in tumultuous motion. Cells interlock and cross-pollinate like eddies and currents. Seen (or heard) from a broad perspective, these tiny motions may seem static, bubbling with potential energy, but still – like a snapshot of a tidal wave before collapse.”
