Brett Miller

Brett Miller (b. 1976) received his OMA in horn performance from the University of Maryland in May of 2007. In 2001, he earned his MM in horn performance, with a cognate in music composition, from Indiana University. While at IU, he studied composition with Sven-David Sandstrom and David Dzubay. Brett began his collegiate studies at Youngstown State University where he graduated in 1999 with a BM in horn performance and a minor in music composition, studying with Dr. Edward Largent.

Miller has over 30 original compositions currently in publication with Potenza Music, WaveFront Music, Solid Brass Music, Eighth Note Publications, and The TubaEuphonium Press. His 2009 CD release, “The Underside of Orange,” features eight original works for horn, with a review in the journal of the International Horn Society stating that he ” … has a highly creative soul.” His horn and trumpet works have been featured at IHS and ITG regional and national conferences and his chamber and solo works have been performed on six continents and are enjoyed by professional and amateur musicians alike.

Brett currently serves as Principal Horn and Chief of The United States Air Force Concert Band, Washington D.C. He has been a member of the organization since 2002.
