Andrew Heading is a Melbourne-based musician, currently Principal Trombone of the Air Force Band. He has studied a wide range of instruments throughout his career, including voice, piano, harpsichord, cello, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium and percussion, as well as composition under Ross Edwards. He was awarded his L.T.C.L. in trombone performance at the age of 14, and completed an Associate Diploma of Jazz Studies at Sydney Conservatorium in 1993. As a performer, he has appeared across Australia and the world with many diverse artists, including Luciano Pavarotti, James Morrison, the Sydney Opera House Orchestra, and Taxi Ride.

Andrew’s compositions and arrangements have enjoyed great success with the Air Force Band, which has premiered the majority of his works.
