Luciano Feliciani is an Italian composer and conductor born in 1973. He began the study of music at a young age and obtained a Diploma for Trumpet from Conservatorio “G. Rossini” Pesaro in 1995. In the same year he attended a course for trumpet and “intuitive and contemporary music” given by Maestros Markus Stockhausen and Fabrizio Ottaviucci. Throughout the years he has been a trumpeter in concert band, wind ensemble and on many occasions played concerts for solo trumpet in several theatres. In 2001 Luciano received a degree in Philosophy of Politics, with his thesis entitled “Seduction and Production on the myth of Don Giovanni.” He attended a course for composers of film-music with maestro Nicola Piovani at the Accademia Chigiana di Siena. He also attended many courses for composers and conductors for wind orchestra with Maestros Jacob de Haan, Jan Van der Roost, Claudio Josè Boncompagni, Frank Battisti, Lorenzo Della Fonte, Franco Cesarini and Felix Hauswirth. He studied Harmony and Composition at the Conservatorio “G. Rossini” di Pesaro, then continued his studies at the Swiss Italian Conservatory of Lugano, with Maestro Franco Cesarini, where, in May 2010, Luciano obtained the Master of Arts in Music Performance – Major in Wind Orchestra Conducting. His compositions ‘Parata di Burattini’ and ‘Variazioni sul tema Lamenti’ were selected as the best compositions from the Laboratory of composition “A.Dei” in Firenze. The composition ‘Variazioni sul tema Lamenti’ was recorded on the album “Dimensions” by the Symphonic Band of the Lemmens Conservatory conducted by Jan Van Der Roost. He had a commission from FE.BA.TI. (Switzerland) for a composition that was a compulsory piece for the third round in the Contest for the “Festa Cantonale” in Lugano, Switzerland (May 29 – June 1, 2009), and recorded by the Nagoya University of Arts Wind Orchestra conducted by Takeuchi Masaichi on the album “European Panorama.” He also writes for symphonic orchestra, concert band, wind ensemble, various ensembles and soloists, and is published by Hal Leonard MGB/De Haske, Animando Music publisher and Scomegna Music Publisher. He also published an essay titled Il sublime e il demoniaco nel Don Giovanni di Mozart in the book Quei Loro Incontri. Lezioni settempedane. Il lavoro editoriale, Ancona, 2007, and wrote a book on the American composer Aaron Copland, published in 2011 by Zecchini Editore. In February 2014 he obtained a Master of Soundtrack Composition for Film with Maestro Luis Bacalov at the Conservatorio “G. Rossini” Pesaro. At present he conducts concert bands, wind ensembles and choirs; composes on commission and teaches trumpet, solfeggio, and the theory and history of music.
