“The idea of Dialogue, of conversation and exchange between equal partners, is central to chamber music, and it is what drew me toward musical performance as a career. The notion that small (or large) groups of musicians come together to create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts has fascinated me since I first picked up the trumpet. I often think about the precision that needs to occur in order for even just two or three musical parts to fit together in performance; the slightest misstep can send the entire production crashing down, but, when it locks in correctly the result can be transcendent.”
