Richard Revesz is a jazz pianist specializing in Latin jazz with a master’s degree in music and music education and 12 years of piano teaching experience. Born in Budapest, Hungary in 1971, he began his classical and jazz piano studies at music schools in Budapest at age 5 and later completed his Master’s degree in piano performance and music education at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. Since 2001 Richard has taught piano at the Bela Bartok Music Conservatory in Budapest, previously the Ferenc Erkel Conservatory of Music.

Since graduating at the Liszt Academy in 2001, Richard Revesz has been a first-call session and touring pianist, composer, keyboard player and arranger on the Hungarian jazz and pop music scene. He has played with many of the best local artists, including internationally renowned jazz bassist the late Aladar Pege, vocalists Andrea Malek and Myrtill Micheller and groups like the Latin Combo, the Budapest Jazz Orchestra and TNT.

He played piano and keyboards in a number of theatre productions and musicals, e.g. Godspell and Last Five Years.

In 2002, Richard formed his own 13-member salsa and Latin jazz orchestra, Ricardo Salsa Club which features some of Hungary’s top musicians. The band played at a number of prestigious international festivals, including the Montreaux Jazz Festival and the Gronau Jazz Festival. Their debut album, Escucha Mi Ritmo was released in 2007.

In 2010, Richard recorded a trio album titled Menu 890 with drummer Peter Szendofi and US bassist Kip Reed under the band name Trio Ricardo. In 2010 and 2011, the band played highly successful concerts in London and the USA. In 2014 Richard was selected to represent Hungary at the Cotai Jazz and Blues Festival in Macau with his quartet, Trio Ricardo Special. The band was selected from 44 countries and 128 bands around the world. They were among the six finalist.

In 2007 Richard won the Artisjus prize awarded by the Hungarian authors’ and composers’ society Artisjus for outstanding accomplishments in bringing Hungarian compositions to domestic and international audiences. In 2006 he received a special Award from His Excellence Jose Luis Martinez Hernandez, Mexico’s Ambassador to Hungary for his outstanding contribution to promoting Latin-American music in Europe.

When not performing, Richard enjoys cooking and spending time with his wife and son.
