Patrick Schulz (DMA, Arizona State University; MM, University of Nebraska – Lincoln; BM, University of Wisconsin – Madison) is an assistant professor of music theory at El Camino College in Torrance, CA and was the artistic director of the South Bay Youth Orchestra from 2008-2011. Before relocating to the Los Angeles area, he was a visiting assistant professor at Arizona State University and an adjunct instructor at Paradise Valley Community College and Arizona State University West. A composer of a wide range of music, Patrick has been commissioned to create works for many notable soloists and ensembles and has had many successful premieres of his music at conferences, festivals, and colleges/universities. His music is published by Tuba-Euphonium Press, TubaQuartet.com, and Potenza Music. A previous Besson Performing Artist on euphonium and former member of the highly acclaimed Sotto Voce Quartet, Patrick recorded three CDs on the Summit Records Label (Consequences, Viva Voce!, and Refractions) and toured throughout the UnitedStates, Canada, and Europe with the group.
