Description
Swamp Song was written for bassoon and CD by Michael Burns in 1986. The composer writes, “All of the sounds on the CD were originally produced in some way on the bassoon and then manipulated electronically. One of the aims was to blur the lines of distinction between electronic and acoustic sounds.” The composer also mentions that the title is derived from the nature of the sounds that emerged on the tape part. The piece is around 9 minutes long and features the bassoon performing multiphonics among other extended techniques.
