Description
Recovery Gates is an outlier on this album, being the only work specifically written for this project. Times of transition and growth can be tremendously challenging and this work was written as a means of escape in an otherwise turbulent time in my life. A self-described John Adams fanboy, I’ve been drawn to his method of “gating” where a certain pitch in a chord will suddenly change seamlessly into a new chord. This work was a new challenge to follow a form and structure more closely aligned with traditional minimalism using only four tubas. This work is dedicated to my wife and daughter for their relentless support, love, and positivity.
