Pipe Music is a brass fanfare with a difference. A full orchestral brass section is joined by pipe organ and timpani, in a wild celebration of sound. The piece can serve equally well to open or close a concert, and is just long enough to deliver a powerful dose of energy to audience and performers alike.
Pipe Music was commissioned by the City of Melbourne – Living the Arts and premiered by musicians of Orchestra Victoria, with Robin Batterham on the organ of the Melbourne Town Hall. It has also been performed as part of the Melbourne International Festival of Brass, with Fabian Russell conducting.
Hard copy of score included. All parts formatted on disc for printing.
Instrumentation: 3 trumpets in C or B-flat, 4 horns in F (3 + 4 are optional), 2 trombone, bass trombone, tuba, timpani, pipe organ.
