Description
The Mighty Blacksmith is a new grade 2 piece for middle school bands. Students will enjoy the upbeat, rhythmic driving that represents the blacksmith hard at work. A slower, lyrical section showcases the blacksmith’s more delicate side, while allowing the band to work on thinner textures and solo work. Directors will also enjoy a few challenges to focus on with their group, including a gradual accelerando and key change. The piece ends with an exciting coda in the second key, with the theme following and building to a dramatic ending statement.
