Description
First performance: 1 February 1896, Torino (Teatro Regio)
The carefree life of a group of young bohemian artists forms the backdrop to the story of the opera, set in Paris in 1830.
Alone in his house, the poet Rodolfo hears a knock at the door: it is Mimì, a young neighbor, who confides that she is an embroiderer of flowers and lives alone (Mi chiamano Mimì). The music accompanies her words with a sweet melody, alternating between quicker and slower tempos, as if following the emotions of the moment. The sound of the Trombone, accompanied by the Piano, highlights every nuance.
