Composer Kevin McKenzie says, “Although not strictly programmatic, Matros depicts the life of a sailor on the open sea and the challenges I imagined that would be faced. This piece was written in 2014 for Geoff Durbin, winner of the 2013 Leonard Falcone Competition.”
