Description
From 1961 to 1975, Jaguar Cars, Ltd. produced a model known as the XKE. It was commonly referred to as the “E-Type Jag.” The vehicle was powered by a 5.3 liter V-12 engine and the hood comprised two-thirds of the car’s total body length. This composition depicts the exhilarating demeanor, infinitely long lines, and sheer power of such an automobile. The work was named “National First-Place Winner” in the 2002 Music Teachers National Association Young Artists Composition Competition and the American Record Guide stated in 2009 that it “deserves inclusion in the standard repertoire.” A commercial recording is available on the MSR Classics release Jag and Jersey featuring clarinetist Linda Cionitti.
