Description
First published in 1859, Antonio Bazzini’s Calabrese, Op. 34, No. 6 comes from a collection of six characteristic pieces written for violin. The euphonium version of the work was premiered by American virtuoso Dr. Benjamin Pierce and Tomoko Kashiwagi at the University of Arkansas in February 2013. The constant mixture of duple and triple rhythms provides the opportunity to display firm control over rhythmic accuracy. Additionally, the endurance, flexibility and technical prowess required will challenge the performer to sustain a light approach throughout.
This version for tuba has been lowered from the original key to be more suitable for the instrument.
