Jiri Slabihoudek

Jiří Slabihoudek graduated from Prague Conservatory, where he studied composition under Eduard Douša and got his bachelor degree from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, having studied under Hanuš Bartoň. He graduated with Concerto for trombone and from the Academy of Performing Arts with the Concerto for Cello, subtitled “Petrichor“. 

He has composed several orchestral, chamber, solo and vocal compositions. Thanks to his big love for Danish music, he was an Erasmus student at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen for a year. He prepared radio programmes for Czech Radio Vltava about Danish music, in particular about the composer Hans Abrahamsen.  

During his studies, Jiří Slabihoudek was awarded several prizes in Generace international competition for composers in Ostrava. He was pronounced “The most succesful young composer of classical music” in 2018 by OSA (Author’s association for copyright)  

At the moment Jiří works as a librarian in a music department of the National library, a music department of the Municipal library and he regularly cooperates with Czech Radio Vltava. He publishes articles about music to numerous outlets.
