Kristy Rowe

Australian born, Kristy began playing the baritone at six years of age, taught by her father, Laurence Rowe. She joined her local brass band, the Gunnedah Shire Band, at age seven and soon began competing as a soloist. Her success has lead to 28 State and National titles in Australia.

Moving to the UK in 2008, Kristy joined the Leyland Band, where she was often featured as a soloist and performed in many prestigious venues across Britain. Her success in Britain includes; “Best Baritone/Euphonium” in the 2009 British Open Solo Championships, semi-finalist in the 2010 European Soloist Competition and “Best Baritone/Tenor Horn” at the 2010 Brass in Concert Championships.

In 2010 Kristy became a Besson Artist and has since featured with Brass Band Rijnmond (Rotterdam) and BB3BA (Germany).

July 2011, Kristy completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Solo Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, graduating with Distinction under the tutelage of Steven Mead.

Kristy has since returned to Australia where she has continued her musical success, winning “Best Soloist” at the 2011 Australasian Open.
