Todd Goodman

Todd Goodman has been described as “one of America’s promising young composers.” His work has been played by principal members of the Chicago, Pittsburgh, Boston, Singapore, Iceland, and Seattle Symphonies, as well as by ensembles and players from all over the world. Goodman currently serves as the resident composer for the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center (lppac.org) outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and has held resident composer positions with the Altoona Symphony Orchestra, McKeesport Symphony Orchestra, and the Beaver Valley Philharmonic. His Bass Clarinet Concerto, Piccolo Concerto, and Alto Saxophone Concerto will be recorded during the 2011- 13 seasons by Maestro William Wiedrich and the University of South Florida Symphony Orchestra and released as a collection of Goodman’s wind concerti, through Wrong Note Media, Inc. (WrongNoteMedia.com) in the spring of 2014. His Tuba Concerto (2012) was commissioned by the Tuba Repertoire Initiative (www.TubaInitiative.org) and premiered at the 2012 International Tuba Euphonium Convention in Linz, Austria. His Trombone Concerto was also the winner of the 2012 British Trombone Society Concerto Composition Compeition, his Bass Clarinet Concerto was awarded third place in the 2011 American Prize in Orchestral Composition, and his work Echos: prelude and dance for piccolo and piano was the Grand Prize winner in the 2006 Project Piccolo Rebirth International Composition Competition. Among those and other awards and honors, Goodman has also been a four-time winner of the ASCAPlus award for his increased contribution to new music. Goodman is in constant demand as a composer, working on many projects, including a grand opera based on George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead and a Percussion Concerto for percussionist George Willis.
