Steve Darling (b. 1989) is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At 24, Darling has received accolades as a composer and musician. At the 2014 International Tuba Euphonium Association Conference in Bloomington, Indiana, Steve received 2nd place in the Euphonium Artist Competition. Steve has received a number of commissions for a variety of chamber ensembles and many of his works have been performed at recitals around the country. Mr. Darling is an advocate of new music and has commissioned numerous works for euphonium with piano and a variety of chamber ensembles.
Steve is an alumnus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2012. Steve is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Euphonium Performance/Brass Pedagogy from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Steve’s teachers have included Marty Erickson (UW-Milwaukee), Matt Gaunt (UW-Milwaukee), Timothy Northcut (College Conservatory of Music), and Jason Smith (Ohio University).
